A new low in Bush-hatred
--by Jeff Jacoby

"Six years into the Bush administration, are there any new depths to which the Bush-haters can sink? ...On Air America Radio, talk show host Randi Rhodes recommended doing to Bush what Michael Corleone, in "The Godfather, Part II," does to his brother. "Like Fredo," she said, "somebody ought to take him out fishing and phuw!" -- then she imitated the sound of a gunshot. In the Guardian, a leading British daily, columnist Charlie Brooker issued a plea: "John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, John Hinckley Jr. -- where are you now that we need you?" "
"As with other kinds of porn, even the most graphic expressions of Bush-hatred tend to jade those who gorge on it, so that they crave ever more explicit material to achieve the same effect."
"This is Bush-hatred as a snuff film. The fantasies it feeds are grotesque and obscene; to pander to such fantasies is to rip at boundary-markers that are indispensable to civilized society. That such a movie could not only be made but lionized at an international film festival is a mark not of sophistication, but of a sickness in modern life that should alarm conservatives and liberals alike."
PERSONAL NOTE: As was stated to me rather matter-of-factly a couple weeks ago, presidents do not get special deferment of criticism simply because they are presidents; for decades comedians have poked fun at the president, but where do we as a nation draw the line? It's one thing to poke fun at the president, it's quite another to fantasize about assassinating him. It's one thing to call him a liar, a chimp, a terrorist, a war criminal, but it's quite another to applaud a film that depicts the assassination of a living, sitting president. Based on democratic outrage over ABC's 'The Path to 9/11', and their overt and shameless efforts to censor criticism of a previous democratic administration, how would democrats prosecute their opposition to a film depicting the assassination of a democratic president... Say, President William Jefferson Clinton? Anyone with even a modicum of intellectual honestly knows the answer.
The simple fact is, hatred of George W. Bush has hamstrung the Left's credibility. My previous post speaks to the consequences of that hatred... Hypocrisy... Cowardice. And G-d help us all if democrats take over in the fall. You think it's bad now, just wait till Speaker Nancy Pelosi is sworn in. You think the ideological divide is bad now, just wait till democrats destroy all comity in Washington... And across the blighted plain.
If there was ever a good reason to vote republican, the hypocrisy, cowardice, and moral bankruptcy of the Left is certainly it.

The facts are, I think, that there is an increasing number of citizens who think that the sins of the Right are worse than the sins of the Dems (I hesitate to call them "Left," because they're fairly centrist). The Dems have loads of problems, without a doubt.
I think we'll find this fall that a majority of us think the Republicans are worse (widespread election fraud, notwithstanding).
One Last Thing | Congress races look less certain for Democrats
Things aren't looking so rosy for Dems.
Hey, I hate the policies of this president. I do not hate the man. Fact is, only on the extreme Left do people who are used to hating actually hate the man.
Sorta like on the extreme Right are the only people who approve of torture, secretly and not so secretly want to see us nuke Iran, and would rather have a feckless president defend his own version and interpretation of the country rather than actually live up to his oath of office and protect and defend the Constitution.
Don't forget that this is a spiritual war.
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Ephesians 6:12
Holy cow! You've uncovered our secret plot. But at least you didn't know about us wanting to eat all the puppies and kicking grannies...
I can feel the horns growing on my head now.
She reduces spiritual warfare to American politics, the likes of which will be the first to burn off when we're all ultimately refined. I'd be ashamed.

Thanks for that, Jack, but tell me [cause I don't have time right now to search] what party affiliation did Garfield and McKinley have?
You can laugh, mock, smirk all you fanct to, boys, but the fact remains--and CANNOT be disputed--the right DOES stand for those things!
And the left mocks that stand!
Look around you, ER and Dan, and see who's standing next to you! Look at the tactics they use--the words they spout.
Proud to be counted among them?
I'll say I'm very proud to stand alongside my fellow conservative bloggers and self-propelled (don't you love that?)activists who understand the threat we face not only from islamofascism, but from a moonbat Democratic-controlled government!
YIKES!
The Rebel Battle-flag may once again fly on the battlefields of America, after all!
YeeeeEEEEEHAW!
D, I stand for Sanctity of Life, for Marriage, for most of the values on which our nation was founded (not slavery, of course, nor wealthy white men only having the vote, but generally). As do ALL my friends which you call "left." To a person.
We go to church. Marry. Bear children and raise them in Godly ways. We go to Sunday School and study the Bible. We pray.
We ask God for forgiveness, get saved and are baptized, as do our children. We dress modestly and, for the most part, are all tea-totallers and non-smokers. We clean up after ourselves and seldom use off-color language.
Clean in mind, body and spirit.
Demonization of the other side does not help matters.
The Right stands for the sanctity of marriage, if it's done exactly as they, in their Godlike wisdom, define it, touting the Bible and their blind adherence to it, which requires NO THOUGHT and NO HEART. The Right stands, likewise, for divorce, judging by the numbers from my beloved Southland itself.
The Right stands for Old Testament Judaism, ignoring the example and the words of the Savior they pretend to worship.
Pshaw. The Right. Stands. For. Itself. And pretends to bow at Jesus's feet when they have him locked up, bound and gagged and tied to a chair in a back room of a thousand whited sepulchers.
It's easy to mock such stands. They invite it. They deserve it.
Torture a prisoner is Jesus's name!
Rend the Constitution in Bush's name!
War against the world in Jesus's name!
ER, it's a fantasy world you live in. Your accusations towards conservatives are baseless and you know it. History has shown, continues to show, and will always show that conservatives are for people bettering themselves with the encouragement and help from others. It (history) likewise shows the division, immorality, and poverty that leftist views promise and deliver!
Wake up and smell the dandelions, dude!
Either we both admit there is good, and bad, on both ends of the spectrum, and that we choose the way we choose because we prayerfully and honestly believe it is the way to go -- or just shut up. I'm tired of being attacked, and then being attacked again when I defend myself. I am wide awake. You are, too. You just want to HATE -- and you do a damn good job of it.
You are stuck on yourself, ER. I've been saying it for months.
I avoid responding to you because all I can do is draw attention to the fact that you think so much of your misguided self.
Sanctimonious? You bet!
Anyone with even half a brain can read the two of us and see who is the hater of the pair.
Your attitude towards those of us on the right is condescending and hateful--that is undeniable when measured against the truth of your words and your tone.
You can call me a hater all you want. It doesn't take away from your own words which prove to anyone who reads them that you are a hateful, concieted, mixed-up tare (not among the wheat--but among other tares)!
If I had to describe you in one word, it would be: IMMATURE!
In two? IMMATURE and SANCTIMONIOUS!
And your own words back me up!
(Okay, little guy, you are now free to spout your hatred towards me and lie about me as you've done so many times in the past)
I've avoided (for the most part) responding to your piousness, recently. No more! I will meet your high opinion of yourself with revelation of your insignificance every time I encounter you!
ER, Kiss my Grits!
LOL. Just take yer meds and summer down, paw-paw.
Shoot, we're not ironclads passin' in the night. We're robots. I'm Rock 'em and yer Sock 'em.
And you know what you can kiss: Me, right square on my left cheek. I'll be glad to turn the other one.
