Media outlets yesterday, sighing sighs of relief, told us all how New Orleans dodged Katrina's bullet, only to wake this morning with the pain of multiple gunshot wounds. It's said that shock will often mask the traumatic, allowing the body and mind to endure, if not always gracefully, under pressure. With reports of at least 80 dead in Mississippi alone, how can anyone say anything was dodged?
