I've tried to post the following comment twice at Opinionated Voice, but either Blogsome isn't updating or Jamal has turned off comments. Time will tell. But I copied my second comment before submitting.
Jamal is a British "Muslim twentysomething with a dislike for injustice and oppression." The only problem is, his positions consistently come down to "Muslims are good," and "Americans and Zionists are Evil." The injustice and oppression he speaks of only encompasses those leveled against Muslims. The rest of the world is Evil. No small wonder.
I heard about Wafa Sultan's appearance on Al-Jazeera on the Tony Snow Show this morning. Liberal Loather provided the link. H/T's to both.
Now to my comment at Jamal's...
"...the poll evidences American bigotry towards Islam..."
What about the bigotry of Islam toward the rest of the world?
"...the majority of Muslims are “decent folks who want to live in peace..." "
Then why don't these "decent folks" protest publicly against the usurpers of their peaceful religion? Why don't these "decent folks" stand up to the mad-mullahs whose only skill, it seems, is to distort the teachings of the peaceful religion of Islam, coercing young men to blow themselves up in the name of eternal glory? Why don't these "decent folks" take back their religion, by force if necessary?
Because they either believe the filth their religious leaders preach, or they're afraid.
This is what EVERY Muslim should be saying:
"...We have not seen a single Jew blow himself up in a German restaurant. We have not seen a single Jew destroy a church. We have not seen a single Jew protest by killing people. The Muslims have turned three Buddha statues into rubble. We have not seen a single Buddhist burn down a Mosque, kill a Muslim, or burn down an embassy. Only the Muslims defend their beliefs by burning down churches, killing people, and destroying embassies. This path will not yield any results. The Muslims must ask themselves what they can do for humankind, before they demand that humankind respect them."

AMEN!
Backlash Against Islam? You bet! And richly deserved. You say you're the faithful adherent of a Peaceful Religion? Prove it!
Perish the thought!
Great post! I have been laboring this week seemingly without a muse, and you have given me a topic for my next post. You just became a temporary muse for me. Thanks.
Have a nice day

I do often take the side of who ever is being attacked, so I havent given up completly that jamal has no intellegence, sometimes he comes off as an ok person.
other times Im not sure,
but I wonder if he actually means what he says all the time.. or if he just tries too hard to " walk in the shoes of others" (know what I mean?)
He tries to be too fair.
but like I said I have an instinct to defend and understand others myself. which does NOT mean I support terrorist in any way...I hate all hatred.
"No one has fallen so far into darkness that they cannot be brought again to the light"
Of course this conflicts with Christianity, but I'm not willing to give up hope on anyone. Least of all Jamal.
Some people become so hardened to sin they cannot repent, and God, knowing such persons will never repent, ceases to deal with that one's soul.
"...when it is deliberate rejection of grace, and the man puts from him life thereby, how can others procure for him life?” Contrast Jam_5:14-18. Compare Mat_12:31, Mat_12:32 as to the willful rejection of Christ, and resistance to the Holy Ghost’s plain testimony to Him as the divine Messiah. Jesus, on the cross, pleaded only for those who KNEW NOT what they were doing in crucifying Him, not for those willfully resisting grace and knowledge. If we pray for the impenitent, it must be with humble reference of the matter to God’s will, not with the intercessory request which we should offer for a brother when erring."

This is in the Quran. THe difference is that the Quran is consistent and evidence in this teaching, in contrary to the mysterious Mat, mark, luke and john, who failed to provide anything written by jesus himself.

I read a transcript of Wafa Sultan's bit earlier this week and it wasnt very good. With regard to your excerpt, you forget that the first bomber in the palestine/Israel area was a Jew, a Jew instigated killings in holy buildings, many Jews kill regularly as members of the Israeli army, even lately causing havoc in a church. Therefore, why should "EVERY Muslim" say any different? What we in fact should be doing is instead acknowledging Muslims, christians, and Jews kill each other, nevertheless, there is good and bad in every group. 9/11 and blowing up statues in Afghanistan does not make all muslims bad, just as crusades, colonialism, witch hunts, anti abortionists and tim mcveigh does not make all christians bad, and the acts of Arial sharon at Sabra and Shatila does not make all Jews bad.
With regard to what you have written in response, you ignore that many muslims have spoken and protested against terorrism. Terror by both the East and the West, by Muslim and non-muslim alike.
Islam is a religion of peace, and those that cant see it but can only see bad points are evidently biased.
