A loving Christian brother just emailed me and said, “Man-o-man. There are some bitter, furious, Christian hatin' bloggers out there!!!” I told him that he is seeing comparatively nice ones. I delete the bad blogs. He’s right though. Some of the atheists that are part of this blog are pretty nasty. So, I have decided to return a bit of the fire (in love, of course).

My new theory is that perhaps atheists evolved from the chicken, because they not only have chicken characteristics--a head, eyes, mouth, skin, neck, heart, earlobes and legs (homology structures), but they also have the chicken’s tendencies--they are chicken livered. They hang around Christians like annoying little bugs hang around light, trying to inject their poison whenever they can.

If you are an atheist, I hope I’m ruffling your feathers. I want to get under your skin and ask why you don’t have the courage to even whisper to Moslems what you keep shouting at Christians. Prove me wrong. Get onto a Moslem website and tell them that you don’t believe their god exists. Do your little “I don’t believe in Zeus” thing. Tell them they believe a myth. Talk about Mohammed as you do Jesus (use lower case for Mohamed). Do your “I don’t believe in the flying spaghetti monster” thing. Tell them that we weren’t made by a god (lower case), but that they evolved from primates (that will go down well). Also, let them know in no uncertain terms that the Koran is full of mistakes (give some examples), and that their mosques are full of hypocrites.

You wouldn’t dare, because you are chicken-livered. You know that they are not like Christians. Despite the “anonymity” of your little chicken coop, they would come after you to lop off your head. And when they find you, you would fall on your knees and be praying to God for help, quicker than I can move a fly swat . . . and I'm pretty quick. So, think about what you are doing, and think about how much you value your life. Then think about what we are telling you. Think.

Think indeed! Christians just want you to join the family, and are willing to tolerate all the abuse you can muster just to introduce you to our God and King. Fling that same abuse elsewhere... say at Muslims... and see where that gets you.

That sure is the truth. It must be a sign of something, the way that they are ganging up on sites and holding conventions and going all out to dominate Christian sites.

Actually, renowned atheist Richard Dawkins has asked his readers to attack Christian blogs when and wherever they have the opportunity... a kind of "shout down the opposition" proposition. A lot of so-called* atheists are doing it....

    * [The reason I say "so-called" is because atheism is every bit as organized as religion; containing its own dogma, and set of beliefs. They have, in effect, their OWN god. Therefore, the atheist doesn't really exist-- he's actually an agnostic.]

Thanks for stopping by, Mom. haven't seen you around in a while. I've missed your input.

Ray Comfort is a hoot, by the way. He's so serious on the Way of the Master series-- leading souls to Christ IS serous business after all --but if you're ever heard him open air preach, he injects his own brand of humor into the mix. Nothing wrong with that so long as it doesn't detract from the message... that being, God loves the sinner, and is pleading for them to come home. Even mean ol' "Agnostics"

Well EL, I can tell you why I post here. I believe I'm the closest thing your blog has to a resident atheist.

    1. I was raised southern baptist so I am most familiar with Christian teachings and can be explain my problems with such.

    2. Most of the people around me are professing christians. It is christianity more than islam I see as a threat to my day to day life.

    3. The American Atheists website has several pages devoted to ridiculing isalm. You'd probably enjoy browsing them.

    4. And of coarse if atheists weren't pestering muslims too, why would islam101.com have a page specifically devoted to witnessing to atheists?

You aren't special. I know its a hard truth, but we all have to grow up sometime.

I hate to tell you this, Bent, but I am afraid your progression is not a sign of growing up. I'm getting older and from what I have witnessed from reading your comments, the correct word is "rebellion" against the God Who loves you and would like for you to humble yourself and come unto Him.

Ahhh, the Insult Gospel. How's that working for Comfort?

Re, "You aren't special. I know its a hard truth, but we all have to grow up sometime."

I actually got a little coffee in my nose!

    EL, you *are* special.

    Bent, you are, too.

So I am. And Mom2, and Dan.

    Utterly unique. Each of us.

But that's not sent the coffee. It's actually pitiable.

The "grow up" thing is a hoot.

It's the easiest thing in the world to cloak oneself in agnosticism or atheism. To cling to science as if it is the only avenue to truth. It's intellectually lazy. Adolescent, you might say.

    Grow up, indeed.

A bunch of Dawkins-ians invaded my site for a while. A few are still there, and are fairly reasonable to dialogue with.

Their theme was that they think theism is a danger to the world and they must help eradicate it. I pointed out how they just picked 5 Christian blogs to attack. Then they added a token Muslim site.

I also noted that they don't seem to spend much money or time on missionary efforts to hostile countries as Christians do. I mean, if they really love their fellow man so much and want to spread their "good news," it seems like a little more sacrifice would be in order.

"It is christianity more than islam I see as a threat to my day to day life."

Really? Why? Exactly what is it about Christianity that fills you with such fear that you perceive it as a threat?

How does Christianity disrupt your daily life? Does Christianity hold a gun to your head and order you to stop being an atheist? Does it force you to stay in bad and not go out to pursue whatever earthly desires you wish?
    Eric said...
"Does it force you to stay in bed...etc?"

No. Whatever face he and others seek to put on it, the simply truth is Christianity forces him think about his own sin. And no one I know, including myself, likes to think about that...

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." --1 John 1:8

You people have no conception of atheism. Feeling special and mature is something we all strive for. Would you say a suicide bomber is more unique and mature than the rest of muslims? He would. Fanatics always think their greater dedication to their faith raises them to a pinnacle. That is one of the traps of religion. You strive to please something mystical outside of yourself, instead of examining your own morals, and how you stack up to your own view of yourself.

I don't worry about christian sins, the same way I don't worry about disappointing Santa Claus, or Vishnu. I do worry about well meaning christians who would use their religions beliefs as a reason to legislate my actions. That is something I do worry about.

My perspective has become that types of spiritual searches or beliefs aren't ladders we are climbing raising ourselves toward a higher being. They are paths here on the ground, meandering, snarled. If there is a higher being who set the course of the universe, then such a creature is as far above human morality and viewpoint as the stars are above the earth.

An analogy I've used before is looking down the food chain. Can you follow your pet 24/7 and pass judgment of its morality? Do you perfectly understand your pets motivations and reasons and actions? Then how can you look upwards to a presupposed being that set the uncounted stars in the sky and think you completely understand that being? Such unthinking arrogance is the province of children, who see the universe as rotating only about themselves.

You totally don't get me, Ben. I'll leave it at that.

And still he doesn't answer the question of why he feels threatened by Christianity.

    I believe his answer is:

I do worry about well meaning christians who would use their religions beliefs as a reason to legislate my actions. That is something I do worry about.

That's one thing I would tend to be concerned about, anyway. Not that I feel threatened by Christians. Just peeved, generally.

After all, if you believe the world is all going to burn one day anyway, as some believers do, then there is no cause to take care of it now. We can pollute it all we want.

If there's no hope of peacemaking with some folk, as some believers think, then there's no reason to try to make peace with them. We can merely assume they're some Evil Monsters, if that's what our religion teaches us (whether that religion is Islam, Christianity or zoroastrianism).
    Eric said...
Speaking strictly for myself, my position has always been that these things-- the earth "burning," our ultimate failure to humanly achieve lasting "Peace" --though positively future tense in terms of the former, and ever-present in terms of the latter, we are still obligated to try. That is all I've ever said. Yes, to pray "thy Kingdom Come..." is essentially to pray for the coming Tribulation hour when 3/4's of the worlds population will perish. But that's coming anyway. You don't have to be a biblical scholar to see the direction Mankind is taking this planet. Mankind, without God, is little more than a death-cult. We seek it by our very actions.

We must try to turn the ship around. We don't have to collide with that iceberg looming largely ahead. He have to put up road blocks to prevent people from attempting to drive over a bridge that is out. When your neighbors house is burning, you don't go to their door and softly knock and hope someone hears you and answers the door. You bang on the door's and windows and SHOUT! Some people are offended by this... namely "atheists" and pseudo-Christians.

Sure, go out an save the environment, but do it in the sure knowledge that your efforts in the long run will be largely wasted. You can't make people care about your efforts. Some will appreciate it, but many others will not. Also God has not called us to "save the planet." He has called us (Christian's) to go out into the highways and hedges and compel anyone who will listen to come to the marriage supper of the Lamb... to go into ALL THE WORLD and preach the Gospel... not tell them they can get to the pearly gates by means of their OWN religions, but by the Gospel, which is embodied in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

Many people find this offensive. Jesus told us they would find it offensive. He told us we would be reviled for carrying that message. That we would be ridiculed, persecuted, even killed for that message. The Gospel is foolishness-- and offensive --to those who are perishing. So I'm not surprised when people mock the message.
