And now he knows for certain the existence, glory, and holiness of God. And he knows hell... Intimately.

It's a shame, actually. No one should ever have to end up there. Not even the likes of Hitler, or Bin Laden. God is not willing that ANY should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance.

It's too late for him now. And it's too late for any of us to pray for him. But surely there is some like him which you know; it's not too late for them. You can pray now for them. And continue praying. God hears those kind of prayers... the persistent kind.

This is what Westboro Baptist Church does. They take other people's pain and use it to create controversy so they can stand on their religious soapbox.

No. This is NOT what Westboro Baptist does. Nowhere have I condemned or maligned him, or held controversial and deliberately hurtful signs at his passing (or funeral, for that matter). Stating the truth of a thing is not same as deliberately creating controversy with the intent of exacerbating anothers pain.

So, no, I won't remove it. I find it deeply sad that he has died without Christ. And I find it equally sad that no prayer I or anyone else can offer will change his fate.

What I CAN do, as I've said, is pray for someone who still has a chance to avoid Mr. Hitchen's fate. Had you asked me to do this, I would have already done so, and continued to do so, as prayer is more effective when it's persistent.

I will offer you this much, however. No one knows for certain where Mr. Hitchens is except Mr. Hitchens himself, and God. And since neither one is going to answer our direct questions in this matter, it's left for me to accept what the Bible has to say in this regard.

You will know a tree by the fruit it bears. To whit, if a man spends his life denying the existence of God, he will find no reason to look to God for a 'salvation' he neither believes in, nor thinks he needs.

Bruce Lee said it this way:

"Those who are unaware they are walking in darkness will never seek the light."

And it is for this reason I say again... it's a shame he's ended where he has, because no one should ever have to end up there. ANYONE can find forgiveness with God.

Wow, Ben. That has to be without a doubt the stupidest thing I've seen you say. To compare Eric's lamentation for the soul of Hitchens to the vile hate spewed by Phelps & Co is truly and sadly very stupid. It's not BenT-like at all.
