He outdid himself. He outdid Obama. Biden. Palin. Giuliani. Huckabee. Romney. Everybody. Elements of his speech were a bit troubling ideologically, but nothing he said was objectionable. Everything he said was admirable. He tore the roof off the sucker.
He said everything Obama failed to say. And that is why Obama will not get my vote.

Mark Schmidt from the American Prospect:
The notable difference, not just in the speeches but in the entirety of the two conventions, was that it is McCain who stands alone. He is the one whose platform is his own personal melodrama, the moment of doubt and pain after which, “I was never the same again. I wasn’t my own man anymore. I was my country’s.” He’s the one whose introductory video declared that he “was chosen for this moment,” and “the stars are aligned” for his victory. Who’s the messiah, now?
And the funniest thing I have heard this election season: Apparently the picture on the big screen behind John McCain during his speech was Walter Reed. Not the army hospital, but instead the middle school in North Hollywood, California.
Where would you place the McCain ticket on the spectrum from fascism to marxism? Is that even the best spectrum to use to compare the two candidates?
